Meet The Board of Directors

Stephanie Magee_edited.jpg

Board President

Stephanie Magee

My name is Stephanie Magee.  I currently live in Silsbee, Texas, with my husband, Ryan, and our dog Sadie.  We moved to Silsbee four short years ago, in September of 2017, from a small community north of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I spent almost 22 years in telecommunications with CenturyLink as a Project Manager; currently, I work part-time as a tutor.   My husband and I also own a home-based travel agency where I am the owner/operator.  Aside from pandemic years, it’s been a very good business.  I enjoy helping others plan their next adventure.

Prior to moving to Silsbee, my husband and I served, on a volunteer basis, in our local church in youth ministry for 20 plus years.  Currently we are serving in various capacities at Pinecrest Baptist Church.  In the spirit of volunteerism, I was looking for another cause to pour my time into and found the Ice House Museum.  I put in as many hours as I can at the Ice House Museum, where I serve as the President of the Board of Directors.

My passions are traveling (especially cruises), cooking, trying new food experiences, preserving the Ice House Museum and all of its treasures, and meeting new people.

I love being a part of small towns!  Seeing well-loved locations in Silsbee restored to their former glory brings me such joy!

I have lived in Silsbee for most of my life. I am fourth generation Silsbee and graduated from Silsbee High School in the great class of 1978.

I graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont in 1982. I taught school in Spring Branch ISD in Houston for 13 years. I then took a few years off from teaching to stay home with my children while they were young. I did become the Director of All Faiths Day School  for 2 years and I was the Music Director of First United Methodist Church for 1 year.

After several years away, I returned to teaching  in Northside ISD in San Antonio where I taught 1 year. I ended my teaching career in Lumberton ISD where I taught another 13 years before retiring.

I love the Ice House Museum and have been on the board of directors for 7 years. It is a great way to give back to our community.

I am married to Dale Boothman and we have 2 incredible daughters, Mary Allison and Paula. We have numerous cats whom we love dearly. I love traveling and visiting museums.

Donna Lindsey Jackson

My name is Donna Lindsey Jackson.  I moved to Silsbee, from Warren, when I was four years old.  After graduating from Silsbee High School, I attended Lamar University where I received a degree in elementary education.  I taught school in Laredo ISD, Beaumont ISD, and Nederland ISD for a total of 31 years. I am currently retired.  My parents were teachers, finishing their careers in Silsbee with a total of 40 years for my mother and 58 for my father.

I am currently working with the museum as a volunteer.  When Susan Kilcrease became the curator, she invited me to come and be a part of her new, exciting endeavor.  This was during the time Covid had establishments shut down, so it was the perfect time for me to help Susan see her visions come to life.  After volunteering for some time, I joined the board of directors where I am currently serving my first year.

My husband, Ryan Harkey, and I married in January 2003, and by June that same year, we purchased our land in the town of Silsbee with a prayer to raise our family on this property with lots of trees, a pond, a creek bank, and importantly, fireflies.  We built our home in 2004, and we are currently raising two Silsbee Tigers.  Rhett is an 8th grader, and Ann Margaret is a 5th grader.

I attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 1999 with a degree in English with minors in Spanish and Linguistics.  After graduating from the University of Texas School of Law in 2002, I married the Aggie I had met on the elevator in my law firm Orgain Bell & Tucker’s downtown Beaumont office building.  I’ve been practicing law 20 years and am blessed to practice exclusively immigration law.  It is beyond rewarding to work with companies, school districts, investors, churches, sports teams, individuals (and more) to maintain and realize the American Dream.

By investing in the preservation of our local Southeast Texas history, we teach our children to understand where we’ve been as a community, to value what we’ve learned, and to focus on needed growth areas and how to make our local community stronger in the future.  Silsbee has a rich history; a beautiful history of timber, the railroad, the Neches River, and hardworking people.  I work with the Ice House Museum because, simply put, kids value what they see their parents and leaders value.

I currently serve on the board of the Symphony League of Beaumont, the Neches River Festival Princess Interview Chair, the Silsbee Education Foundation board, and Boy Scout Troop 88 Committee Secretary.  I enjoy being involved with our church’s ministries at First United Methodist Church.  My hobbies after work involve hanging out with two interesting and fun kiddos and driving the pick up suburban to football practice, Boy Scout meetings, band lessons, piano lessons, and dance performances and recitals, and God is faithful to help Ryan and I get to the right place at the right time for kid pick up (most of the time 😊).

My background in Silsbee started 43 yrs. ago when my husband, Don, and I relocated from Louisiana due to his employment with Southern Pacific RR (Union Pacific). I began teaching in Silsbee soon after we relocated. We are both graduates of Louisiana high schools and universities. I earned post graduate hours in Louisiana and Texas.

My professional teaching career began in Louisiana (5 years) and concluded in Silsbee ISD (30 years). After my retirement in 2009, I worked 10 years as an educational consultant for McGraw-Hill Education (textbooks). Also, during that time, I was a testing administrator for a science grant sponsored by Texas A &M.

I began volunteering at the museum this past summer and became a board member in January. Currently I am assisting in the education program - visiting and presenting elementary classrooms with basic Ice House Information. I also assist with museum tours, organizing items, and general museum routines.

My husband and I have been blessed with 48 years of marriage, and we have one son and three fur babies. We enjoy traveling with our friends to various Caribbean resorts or cruises. I also appreciate my ladies' trips to numerous cites across the U.S. We are devoted LSU football fans holding season tickets for several years. GEAUX TIGERS! My hobbies include gardening, holiday decorating, exercising, Bunco, and ladies' dinner club. We are members of St. Mark's Catholic Church where we have served on several committees/organizations over the years. I enjoyed many years at the Silsbee Little Theatre serving as a board member and president. In addition, I assisted with many spring productions - greeting, hosting, and serving.

I'm originally from the hill country but my husband, Alex, is from Silsbee, where I moved to make my home.  His family has been in business here since 1946, which Alex has continues, but I have had my insurance agency in Silsbee since November of 2016.

I got involved with the Ice House Museum because Silsbee has a rich history and I'm so excited to be able to help share it.  This is my third year to serve on the Board.

We have one furbaby, Joe Joe, who is 2 1/2.

I'm involved in several different organizations.   In addition to the Board of directors for The Ice House Museum,  I am presently an Ambassador for the Silsbee Chamber of Commerce, President of the newly formed Silsbee Education Foundation, Hardin County Rotary, Junior League of Beaumont, Southeast Texas YPO, Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, American Red Cross - Cattle Baron's Ball Committee.

Born (in Beaumont) but raised in Silsbee Texas.  My parents were Polish immigrants who managed Dutch Lake Egg Farm (which they eventually bought).   I attended Silsbee ISD graduating in 1979 with honors.

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design Fine Arts/Photography  in 1986.   I have been an art education teacher with Silsbee ISD since 1988.

I have been involved with the Ice House Museum since its inception, volunteering on and off during the years.   My love of fine arts, history, antiques and our little community of Silsbee brought me to this point of becoming a board member of which I am starting my second year.

My hobbies are basically art collecting, antiques, photography and taking care of my historic 125+ year old house. (the former Kirby corporate house/Kirby Hospital) along with my husband and our clowder of rescued cats.

My family moved to Silsbee in 1981 when I was four years old where I attended school and graduated from Silsbee High School in 1994. I moved away for school and work and returned in 2006 after the birth of my daughter. I have been married to Matt Morones for over 25 years, we have one child.

I am an attorney; I received my undergraduate from the University of Houston and my Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law. I am involved in the Ice House Museum because I believe that it is very important for a small community like Silsbee to have a cultural institution that preserves the history and heritage of the area.

I enjoy traveling with my family and serving my community
